BITS & Event Support Manager, Office of Information Technology

The BITS and Event Support Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Technical Support within the User Support Office, a department within the Office for Information Technology. This position manages all aspects of the Berry Information Technology Student (BITS) work program and other related student work positions within IT. The BITS program is a dynamic student work apprentice program where college students work in various areas of IT and learn real-world technical skills in an area of their choosing. This position manages the BITS program: oversees yearly interviews and student boot camp; coordinates with track supervisors; communicates with donors, alumni, and Berry departments; and plans events as needed. They also are responsible for monitoring the student work budget for OIT.

Additionally, this position is responsible for providing support for campus events (outside of regular classes) that involve multimedia or IT software, platforms, or equipment. Duties will include training faculty and staff as needed, setup and teardown of equipment, and on-site support of events in special cases. Events may be in person, virtual, or hybrid. After-hours and/or weekend work may be required but are not frequent.

Other duties include maintaining an on-campus learning management system, keeping campus computer labs maintained and stocked with supplies, and serving as a backup to other User Support staff members as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Experience supervising groups, with a preference to experience supervising college students or other young adults.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience and excellence in customer service.
  • Knowledge and frequent use of common computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Macintosh computers.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Windows-based computers.
  • Experience with maintaining budgets.
