Position: IT Support Specialist
Description: Shorter University is seeking a motivated individual to join our OIT Team immediately in the critical role of IT Support Specialist. The IT Support Specialist is a fully onsite position, responsible for providing outstanding customer service and support for faculty, staff, and students. This includes initial triage for service desk requests, resolving Tier 1 support issues, maintaining the functionality and viability of classroom technology and computer labs, workstation deployment and repair, printer management, and basic network troubleshooting.
Hours: 40 per week; occasional nights and weekends may be necessary
Primary Job Duties:

The IT Support Specialist is a fully onsite position, responsible for providing outstanding customer service and support for faculty, staff, and students. This includes initial triage for service desk requests, resolving Tier 1 support issues, maintaining the functionality and viability of classroom technology and computer labs, workstation deployment and repair, printer management, and basic network troubleshooting.

Primary Job Duties:
- Provide initial contact and triage for Service Desk requests
- Field incoming requests in a timely and courteous manner
- Image, Deploy, Maintain, Repair, and Upgrade workstations
- Connect and troubleshoot network printers
- Deploy and maintain classroom technology
- Assist with setup and operation of audio equipment for events
- Assist with network and server maintenance, repairs, and upgrades
Required Education and Experience:
- This is an entry level position.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science and/or 1+ years of equivalent work experience is favorable but not required.
- Any relevant industry certifications (e.g., A+, MCP, Network+, etc.) would also help distinguish candidates
Other qualifications: While this position is primarily internally facing, interfacing with students, staff, faculty, and administrators will occasionally be part of the job. As such, a strong customer service orientation is required. Candidate should have the ability to lift equipment as necessary and to write, speak, see, and hear as necessary to carry out the requirements of the job.
