Accounts Payable Clerk

Summary

Under direct Supervision, performs various clerical and routine accounting tasks relating to AP. Assists in the performance of various clerical duties. The employee will work in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for performing a range of accounting work assignments.

Responsibilities

1. Raw material accounts payable processing
2. AP Payment functions (generate checks, record manual checks and wire transactions)
3. Examines records of accounts due (statements) and make sure invoices are paid according to term.
4. Maintain adequate written communication relating to issues - includes written correspondence to suppliers and/or departments as well as adequate notations for internal paperwork.
5. Refers complex problems to supervisor for resolution.
6. Support Cost Accounting related activities - data compilation and analysis as requested.
7. Scan and file all invoices and checks electronically.
8. Communicates with Purchasing and vendors to clarify information and/or resolve discrepancies.
9. Review AP aging Trial Balance to ensure that payments are made promptly
10. Sox Audit Support
11. Assist in various month-end processes

Minimum Job Requirements

1-2 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated understanding of basic bookkeeping

Excel skills to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, comparisons, and impacts.

Ability to handle a large volume of data and maintain accuracy.
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels
Ability to understand, interpret, and explain department/plant policies and procedures.
Shows strong interpersonal and organizational skills and willingness to learn and share knowledge.
