Position:                     Executive Director


Salary/Wage:             Salary is based on education and experience.


Position Summary:  

Under the general supervision of the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director performs a variety of administrative, supervisor and public relations functions and is responsible for directing the overall operations of two residential group home facilities for teenaged boys and girls.


Major Duties:

• Directs and manages the overall operations and maintenance of facilities;

• Develops and implements short and long range goals;

• Responsible for the fiscal management of five facilities. Develops an annual budget based on analysis of projected needs and resources and monitors expenditures;

• Continually seeks funding for facility operations and programs by writing and managing grants and assists with all fundraising efforts;

• Prepares and completes all mandated monthly, annual and other reports and all reports requested by the Board of Trustees;

• Ensures the proper allocation of personnel and other resources through a review of staffing levels

• Investigates, documents and take disciplinary action when necessary;

• Conducts weekly staff meetings and other work related meetings as necessary;

• Ensures and maintains compliance with local, state, federal and all other regulations and legal requirements;

• Must be available and “on-call” for any emergency situation;

• Actively involved in the community with other local service related agencies, represents the Home by serving on service related local and state committees and/or boards;

• Reports directly to the Executive Board of the Board of Trustees;

• Carries out the policies and decisions of the Board of Trustees.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have a Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, human services or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience; or

 A Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, social work, human services or related field and a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience;

• Must be twenty-one years of age or older;

• Must possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to secure a valid Georgia license if current license is from another jurisdiction;

• Must have no criminal history record of a misdemeanor or felony offense from any state;

• Must pass a medical examination to include a level ten (10) drug screen and current TB test;

• Must possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and work well with other people, subordinates, children, volunteers, board members, agency personnel, family members, etc.

• Must possess strong organizational and managerial skills necessary to supervisor and lead full and part-time employees at two (2) group homes;

• Must have experience in grant writing, grant management, program development and reporting and fundraising;

• Must be able to delegate responsibilities to staff members in an appropriate and timely manner.


Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Knowledge in methods and techniques effective in counseling youth;

• Knowledge and understanding of methods of de-escalation/crisis intervention and positive youth development techniques;

• Knowledge and skills needed to assess problems and needs of youth;

• Knowledge and understanding of the role of the juvenile justice system, Department of Family and Children’s Services, juvenile court and mental health services at the local and state level;

• Knowledge of how to enlist the cooperation of individuals from various backgrounds to develop human service delivery programs for youth;

• Knowledge and ability to identify and utilize community, state and federal resources for the betterment of service delivery;

• Knowledge and understanding of program and office management, budgeting, and the development and maintenance of administrative records;

• Skill in planning, organizing, analyzing and problem solving and decision making;

• Skill in oral and written communication to include internal and external audiences;

• Preferred experience in child welfare and RBWO contracts.

• Skill in public relations.


Supervisory Responsibility:

The Executive Director has direct supervision over the Administrative staff.
