Coordinator of STEMTeach Program

Coordinator of STEMTeach Program

Berry College invites applications for a half-time Coordinator of the STEMTeach program to begin August 12, 2024. The STEMTeach program is a grant-funded program that recruits and supports students majoring in STEM disciplines to be teachers. The program has been active for seven years and just received funding for an additional five years. It is an active multidisciplinary program housed in the School of Math and Natural Sciences with strong ties to the Teacher Education Department. Students are supported through apprenticeships starting early in the program, special professional development events with their mentors and other students, significant scholarship money, and coordinated advising with both their STEM discipline and education coursework. The latter of these efforts can lead to students graduating with dual majors in one of eight STEM disciplines and education as fully certified teachers.

Primary responsibilities for this coordinator position include overseeing the day-to-day activities of the STEMTeach program, monthly coaching of STEMTeach students, coordinating apprenticeships with teachers, communicating with the leadership team of faculty and mentor teachers in partner schools, organizing on-campus activities that engage the mentors and participating students, and keeping organized records of the participants in the program. The appointment will be for five years with annual reviews.

  • Bachelor's degree
